JUNIOR TAEKWON-DO

At I-Kick we have a fantastic Junior Taekwon-do programme! This is a tailored Martial Arts class for children between 9 and 13 years of age.

This unique class is excellent for developing focus in your child, allowing them to grow and develop into a well-rounded young individual. It’s the beginning of their Taekwon-do journey and is fantastic for learning new skills and instilling confidence as it offers so much in terms of valuable life skills, due to the core Martial Arts values it encourages.

Encouraging Values

Courtesy - Ye Ui

Taekwon-do students should attempt to be polite to one another and to respect others. Students should address Instructors as Sir or Miss and to bow to the Instructors before and after classes. Turning up early or on time for classes is also an aspect of courtesy.

Integrity - Yom Chi

One who has integrity is able to define what is right or wrong and have the conscience, if wrong, to feel guilt. Taekwon-do students should strive to be honest and to live by moral principles.

Perseverance - In Nae

Perseverance means having patience and the ability to never give up. One of the most important secrets of becoming a leader in Taekwon-do is to overcome difficulties by persevering. The Famous saying “Fall down seven times, stand up eight” is a great example in describing perseverance.

Self-Control - Guk Gi

Without self-control, a Taekwon-do student is just like any fighter on the street. Loss of self-control could be disastrous both in sparring and personal affairs. As a Martial Artist, one should train just as much on the mental aspects as the physical during training, to reach their peak.

Indomitable Spirit - Baekjul Boolgool

A true student of Taekwon-do will never give up, not even when faced with insurmountable odds. The most difficult goals can be achieved with indomitable spirit. Self-belief is also a big part of indomitable spirit.

What's involved?

For those who were involved in either of the I-Kickers programmes, JNR TKD is an excellent natural progression, taking what was learned previously to the next level up.

In the programme the children will learn discipline, Martial Arts etiquette, self-defence skills, how to work as a team, how to take responsibility, learn to never give up and develop their self-control. Additionally, they will also meet new friends and increase their physical fitness levels.

There is also the opportunity to participate in the sporting element of Martial Arts, with events such as pattern, sparring, special technique and power breaking, allowing students to explore the competitive aspect of sport too.

our JNR TaeKwon-Do programme follows the same grading structure as that of Adult Taekwon-do. When the student first joins, they begin at White belt. As they progress through their training, they will have the opportunity to be examined for their next grade. When successful, they will be promoted to the next rank and continue to set new goals to be achieved for their next higher grade as they grow and develop.
