At I-Kick we have excellent Junior Kickboxing classes available to students ages 10-13 years old.
Kickboxing is a group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwon-Do and Western Boxing.
This unique class is excellent for developing focus in your child, allowing them to maximise their potential both physically and mentally and grow into a well-rounded young individual. Kickboxing is a fantastic activity for youngsters to participate in due to the core values and discipline it helps to instil from the beginning as well as a great way to enhance their fitness levels.
Students should attempt to be polite to one another and to respect others. Students should address Instructors as Sir or Miss and to bow to the Instructors before and after classes to demonstrate respect. Turning up early or on time for classes is also an aspect of courtesy.
One who has integrity is able to define what is right or wrong and have the conscience, if wrong, to feel guilt. Students should strive to be honest and to live by moral principles.
Perseverance means having patience and the ability to never give up. One of the most important secrets of becoming a leader is to overcome difficulties by persevering. The Famous saying “Fall down seven times, stand up eight” is a great example in describing perseverance.
Without self-control, a student is just like any fighter on the street. Loss of self-control could be disastrous both in sparring and personal affairs. Mental training has to be/and is developed through the competitive sport element of Kickboxing, helping students to understand how to overcome adversity.
Junior Kickboxing is one of the best physical activities that a child could participate in. It offers both physical and mental benefits.
Students will learn; discipline, etiquette, fighting skills, how to work as a team, how to take responsibility, learn to never give up and enhance their self-control. Additionally, they will also meet new friends and increase their fitness levels.
There is also the opportunity to participate in competitive sport, with tournaments being readily available to students should they wish to compete, allowing them to explore their competitive side and potentially get the chance to represent their club and country at National or even International levels.
There is also a clear line of progression for the students in Kickboxing. When they first join, they begin at White belt. As they progress through their training, they will have the opportunity to be examined for their next grade. When successful, they will be promoted to the next rank and continue to set new goals to be achieved for their next higher grade. The order of the grades are as follows; White belt, Yellow belt, Green belt, Blue belt, Red belt, Black belt. Once Black Belt is reached, students then grade for Dan Grades instead of new colours of belts. The highest ranking grade is 8th Dan.
In order to promote to the next grade students must be showing improvements in the following areas:
Their technical skill levels
Their fitness levels
Their flexibility levels
Their sparring ability
Their maturity levels
Ensuring they conduct themself well by demonstrating courtesy and good behaviour
